Face Masks Going once, going twice, sold!

Mask-R-Aid coming to St. Petersburg Creative solutions by innovative designers!
After Coronavirus touched base in the United States, many people’s lives were put to a screeching halt. Schools switched to online learning, people across the country were asked to stay at home and self-quarantine, and many businesses were forced to close up shop. The pandemic left Tampa Bay artists worried about how they will stay afloat during this time and Andre Kupfermunz, Zhanna Kens, and other designers have found a way to combat the damage Coronavirus has caused artists during this quarantine. Through an exhibition and auction, designers are banding together to educate others on the importance of wearing a face masks and to raise money for the St. Pete Arts Alliance Relief Fund which is offering money to artists in need during this pandemic.

From August 1st and lasting till the 14th, beautifully crafted face masks have been put on display for all to see at Zazoo’d (351 Central Ave, St Petersburg, FL 33701). These masks were made by local fashion designers, costumers, sewers, and even a few children, all joining together for a good cause. Zhanna Kens is one of those masks designers and is excited for the auction to take place. What inspired Zhanna to get involved in this fundraiser is how she thinks it is “important to stay connected and support the Artists in the Tampa Bay area in times like this. Since people have to wear masks now, we should make it fun to express ourselves in a very original way.” In times like this sticking together even when you’re apart is crucial and Zhanna Kens understands that, a possible reason why Andre Kupfermunz asked her to contribute to the project another possible reason could be her passion for the craft. Zhanna enjoys taking face masks and constructing them to be one of a kind for her costumers, allowing them to feel luxurious and unique.

An exciting part about this fundraiser is that people not only get to view the fantastical face masks on display but also try their hand in buying them through an auction happening on August 15th at Bay Area Auction Service (8010 US Highway 19N, Pinellas Park, FL 33781) it will also be held online at www.bayareaauctionservices.com. A wonderful chance for whimsical work to be seen and taken home but let’s not forget the reasons behind this event. Florida COVID-19 cases are popping up each day and everyone needs to do their part in wearing a mask to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading. Along with the important reason to wear a mask we should also be mindful of the people who have struggled under this pandemic; quarantine has not been easy especially for our Tampa Bay artist which is why St. Pete Arts Alliance Relief Fund is using the money to provide artists with grants. As we stand six feet apart, wear our masks, and stay clean we can’t forget to be there for each other during a time in need.
